Board of Directors
Healing the Children Arizona's Board of Directors are unpaid volunteers who donate time and expertise in service of Healing the Children Arizona's mission of helping children all over the world receive medical care.
Kristin Mathews, RN, BSN: Vice President/Co-director
Kristin grew up in Arizona and attended Saguaro High School in Scottsdale. She studied nursing at Arizona State University and graduated with a B.S.N. in December 1990. She currently works at Scottsdale Healthcare Shea and serves as a Parish Nurse at her church in North Scottsdale. Kristin has a passion for charitable work and she and her family have hosted children from Honduras, Ecuador, and Vietnam. In her spare time, she enjoys participating in medical mission trips, sailing, and watching her boys play hockey.
Debra Karam, RN: Member at large/ co-director:
Johanna Ricketts, Member at large/Medical Trip Coordinator/Host Family Coordinator
Johanna has had an interest in the well being of children all her life. Raised and educated in the Netherlands, she got her degree in child care and development. After coming to the US, she and her family's first involvement with Healing the Children was in 1991 when they became a host family for the New Mexico chapter. Because this experience so intensified her drive for humanitarian aid for children, she started the new Arizona Chapter in 2000, of which she was chapter director until January 2012.
Tami Tack, Treasurer
Tami was first introduced to the Arizona chapter of Healing the Children when she saw photos of children who received care from the organization. Touched by the children's genuine smiles and the new sparkles in their eyes, plus the joy of the volunteers at the many Healing the Children events, Tami volunteered her time and expertise to help administer finances for the chapter. Tami enjoys leadership and volunteer activities within various political organizations, the bookstore associated with her church and an international bible study group.
