How HTC Operates
The Arizona Chapter of Healing the Chidren serves needy children medically, both nationally and internationally, through a variety of programs:
- Our Stateside Foreign Program. Providing medical services to children from other countries who are brought to Arizona to undergo medical treatment that is donated by doctors and hospitals here in the Valley. These children are referred to HTC by recognized HTC International Partners, by Embassies and/or by other organizations overseas. Transportation and escorting services are arranged to bring the child to Arizona. Upon arrival each child is placed in loving volunteer host families for as long as the child is undergoing medical care. Once the child has been released medically arrangements are made to return the child back home.
- Our Stateside Local Program. Providing services to children living in the State of Arizona. These children are referred to HTC by schools, churches and/or other state programs. Services provided to these children depends on the needs and on the family's financial status and vary from medical assistance to financial contributions. The most common serves to local children are:
- donated consultation visits with a physician or specialist,
- help with prescription medication or special equipment,
- special housing allowances for families who have to travel to another state for the medical needs of their child,
- provision of donated personal items and necessities to local shelters,
- Financial assistance (for up to $1000.00) for families with children who are not able to meet their basic needs as a result of incurred medical expenses.
- Our Medical Team Program. Organizing and sending specialized medical teams to developing countries to perform on site surgeries and/or medical care. This is a very cost effective way to assist many children in a short amount of time with quality medical care. Teams are made up of physicians, nurses, dentists and HTC administrative staff.
- Our Overseas Foreign Assist Program. Assisting a child living in a developing country by sending medical equipment, medications and/or supplies so that the child is able to get treatment and/or surgery in his or her home country.
- Our National Project Program. At times HTC Arizona will join other HTC Chapter is support of a project that has been recognized by the National Office as a Special Project. These projects, such as building a clinic, or supplying a hospital with medical equipment, are usually too big for one chapter to support, yet are of extreme importance for the overall good of children living in developing countries.
